Chapter III is not a plot on a highway. It is a plot on a hill — a 300-acre private ridge above the clouds, threaded with river streams and pocket forests, half an hour from the Ashtavinayak temple and two hours from the front door of most Mumbai and Pune homes.

The land was drawn around the terrain, not the other way around. Roads follow the contours. Pocket gardens replace concrete plazas. Wide, quiet lots hold most of the trees that were already there.
